Consisting of synthesist Chuck van Zyl and electric guitarist Art Cohen, The Ministry of Inside Things are considered among the most innovative of US spacemusicians today. Influenced by the early music of Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and Ash Ra Tempel, their work has been described as linear, leading the listener across a diverse sonic terrain.

| Based on improvisation, The Ministry of Inside Things creates electronic realizations that flow from theme to theme, within the context of a composed suite of music. Through use of textures and atmospheres as well as harmony, rhythm and melody, the group transports the audience on an internal aural excursion. | |||
The Ministry of Inside Things live at The Ambient Ping - 21 June 2005
With memorable concerts at Gate To Moonbase Alpha, The Ambient Ping, The Gatherings and Voices Beyond the Dome series and on the GALACTIC TRAVELS, NOCTURNAL TRANSMISSIONS, DELICIOUS AGONY, ECHOES and STAR'S END radio shows, MoIT continues a tradition of bringing an otherwise methodical studio based artform out into the spontaneity of the performance environment. While their music touches on many of the hallmarks of Berlin-School Spacemusic (cyclical sequencer patterns beneath soaring lead melodies contrasted by passages of deep synth tones and glissando guitar), MoIT bring their own influences and innovation to the process. The result is a sound that is uniquely individual.
Chuck van Zyl has been recording electronic music and performing live for more than 20 years but is best known for hosting one of the world's most successful radio shows of electronic music, STAR'S END, for the past 25 years. van Zyl has released two CDs of spacemusic on the Centaur Ltd label, Celestial Mechanics and The Relic as well as a collaborative effort with Peter Gulch, Regeneration Mode on Synkronos and The Sound Museum with Gulch and D. A. Rath on Groove Ltd. Art Cohen has been pushing the limits of the electric guitar in the studio and in live performance for well over 20 years. Working as an audio engineer while playing spacemusic with Delicate Monster and rock music with Men From When, Cohen also creates and performs solo guitar soundscapes that transcend the textural.

| The Ministry of Inside Things will release a new double CD at their upcoming performance at The Gatherings Concert Series. The music from Ambient Elsewhere has been drawn from several recent tour performances and features definitive live versions of classic MoIT pieces like "Love Attack" and "Naylor's Run". The album contains two one hour long suites of spacemusic and easily flows through a variety of themes, energy levels and styles. |

Contact Point by The Ministry of Inside Things:
The Philadelphia based Spacemusic duo The Ministry of Inside Things exist outside the confines of the recording studio and in the realm of the live performance. As MoIT, Art Cohen (guitar) and Chuck van Zyl (synths) continue a tradition of bringing an otherwise methodical studio based artform out into the spontaneity of the performance environment. Their second CD Contact Point feels warm and earthy compared to their debut release Everlasting Moment. While their earlier album explored the edges, dynamics and tension of space and atmosphere, Contact Point presents the more unified themes of cosmic, biospheric and macrocosmic interaction. Through the use of environmental field recordings, drifting melodies and soft sonic textures set against submerged drones, billowing sequencer patterns and breezy synth and guitar lead lines, Contact Point depicts the mystery and beauty of telluric ideals. While their music touches on many of the hallmarks of Berlin-School Spacemusic, MoIT bring their own influences and innovation to the process. The result is a sound that is uniquely individual. - Press Release | |

Mark Mahoney + Michael Peck
Mark Mahoney and Michael Peck utilize analogue, digital and software synthesizers in their electronic realizations. Their work is formed out of a balance between dark ambient soundscapes and spare sequencer figures. The duo have performed live in Philadelphia at Electro-Music and on STAR'S END Ambient Radio, and have worked to develop the Spacemusic scene at home in Tennesse. Their debut CD Imprint was released in 2006. The Gallery of Subtle Smiles followed in 2007.
Mahoney + Peck will perform live at The Gatherings Concert Series on Saturday 20 September 2008.
