The Gatherings 2014

The Tangent Project + Tim Motzer + George Wallace - 12 April 2014

Tangent Project Tim Motzer George Wallace

Three Spacemusic acts from the Philadelphia area converged at St Mary's for an evening of beautiful music at The Gatherings Concert Series

The Tangent Project realizes music in constant motion. The sequencer runs, synth pads, melodies produced by Jeff Coulter all move at different speeds as Harrison McKay's electric guitar emits atmospheric textures and liquid leads.

Tim Motzer plays ethereal guitar, which presents itself through the use of sustain and looping effects, E-Bow and cavernous reverberation - ever furthering his diverse musical identity.

George Wallace works to span a range of styles and intensities, offering subtle depths and graceful stillness, so as to heighten our attentiveness to new ideas

The Tangent Project returned as Tim Motzer and George Wallace each made their performance debut at The Gatherings Concert Series on 12 April 2014

AirSculpture - 17 May 2014

AirSculpture

Made up of Adrian Beasley, John Christian and Peter Ruczynski, AirSculpture has been using concert spaces to facilitate electronic experimentation since their first live event in September of 1995. Over the years this UK trio have found that the atmosphere of the venue, the attention of the audience and several other immeasurable factors, have a significant affect on the interaction between players and acts as a fuel for their performances. The dynamics and energy of each realization is controlled by a blend of digital technology and analogue control; the music benefiting through the immediate and tactile interface with the gear and with each other. It is this relationship and experience which allows AirSculpture to create spontaneous and effective electronic realizations in the live environment.

UK Spacemusic outfit AirSculpture returned to Philadelphia and The Gatherings Concert Series on 17 May 2014

Jeff Pearce

Jeff Pearce

Jeff Pearce + Borghi & Teager - 11 October 2014

Jeff Pearce is well known to the Spacemusic community for his unique approach to the electric guitar. Pearce produces tones that rarely betray their origin as they are processed, delayed, distorted and looped to create complex harmonies and timbres. His music is compelling and moody, traversing the Space, Ambient, Experimental and New Age genres, and ranges from deep, dark soundworlds to bright, elegant, melodic compositions.

The Music of Matt Borghi & Michael Teager aims to create a deep and timbrally interesting listening experience while also bringing together a unique musical pairing and improvisational process. While Borghi brings in spacious guitar textures to create a harmonic fabric, Teager lays out his saxophone playing with subtlety and nuance. They attribute their unrivaled realizations to friendship, their approach to the work and a diversity of musical interests.

Jeff Pearce along with with Matt Borghi & Michael Teager returned to The Gatherings Concert Series on 11 October 2014 at 8:00PM.
